We
celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava Day at Sobha Palladian on 1 Nov 2019.
And we were
honored with the presence of our Corporator N Ramesh and his two friends during
this event.
A short summary
of the event by Jayashree Srinivasan & Krish..
Our Corporator N Ramesh arrived promptly on time, even as we were busily
sending successive Whats App messages and
requesting residents to assemble.
The flagpole
and the area around it was beautifully decorated with flowers, strands of
bright yellow and orange marigolds and the map of Karnataka filled with yellow
and red flower petals – the Karnataka State Flag colors. Yellow color represents
turmeric and red color represents kumkum.. And a tall shining traditional brass lamp.
And the PA
system struck up a lively Rajkumar hit song ..
Huttidare kannada
naadalli huttabeku
Mettidare kannada manna mettabeku

With a short
welcome speech, MC Veena Shivanna kicked off the program by inviting our chief
guest N Ramesh , his aides and SP Management
Committee to light the traditional lamp.
This was
followed by the calm and soothing voice of Prabha singing an invocation song to
Lord Ganesha.
"Worship
Ganesha, or Gajamukha, before you start any work, for the work to become
successful".
Umashanker then
took over the stage.
He gave the
Welcome note for the 64th Kannada Rajyotsava day being celebrated at Sobha Palladian. A
warm welcome to all the assembled Shobha Palladian residents and after that, Corporator N Ramesh and his aides.
He introduced
Corporator N Ramesh and spoke about his
work towards public.
He is the Corporator

doing great service in getting concrete roads constructed, getting drains
cleared and ensuring money is allocated for major infrastructural work in the
ward. He is ensuring proper implementation of building proper concrete wall
embankment for the rajakaluve/nala behind Sobha Palladian.
He responds
promptly and takes prompt action too.
Umashankar then
requested SP President to welcome him on stage and do honor by giving a flower
bouquet, and the secretory to put the Yellow and Red (state colors)shawl on his
shoulders and offer sweets to him. Similar shawls were also offered to his two friends
who attended the function along with Corporator.
And then they
all assembled near the flagpole to unfurl the Karnataka state flag.
A quick wiki on
Karnataka..
Karnataka
was formed on 1
November 1956, with the passage of the States Reorganisation Act. Originally
known as the State of Mysore, it was renamed Karnataka in
1973. The state corresponds to the Carnatic region.
It is the sixth largest Indian state by area. And the eighth largest state by population, The economy of Karnataka is the fourth-largest
state economy in India.
Veena Shivanna, in her address spoke about how Kannada is not just a language
but an emotion. It connects people from various regions.
“Kannada is a rich language and we have got 8 "Gnana
Peeta" awards and our poets / writers not only write about language but also
use that as a medium to bring in social changes.”
Kuvempu Dr. Puttappa, in one of his works mentions how
Kannada can be used as a
tool to evoke responsibility in individuals.
One more poet, G.P.RajaRatnam emotes his love towards
language through his work.
He even went to the extent of saying that he would continue speaking through his
nose if
someone were to cut off
his tongue!!
And we all know
Dr. Rajkumar, the iconic superstars of Kannada & the film industry and his famous
& patriotic Kannada songs.
Karnataka also has a
special place in the world of Indian classical music, with both Karnataka (Carnatic) and Hindustani styles finding place in the state.. Purandara Dasa, one of the most revered Haridasas, is known as the Karnataka
Sangeeta Pitamaha ('Father of Carnatic
music). Celebrated Hindustani musicians like Gangubai Hangal, Mallikarjun Mansur, Bhimsen Joshi, Basavaraja
Rajaguru, Sawai
Gandharva and several others hail from Karnataka. (Ref Wiki)
Corporator Ramesh expressed his appreciation for Sobha Palladian community for taking the
initiative to celebrate the Kannada Rajyotsava Day.
He also called the residents to learn Kannada language and feel proud to be part of
our state. He also requested the CEOs and other
residents to give special consideration to Kannada people and offer them
jobs.
He also appreciated us for keeping Kannada speaking house keeping staff.
We had drawn
his attention to the drain that flows next to our compound wall.He mentioned
that he has budgeted some money towards the construction of the wall across the Nala. He
did take the name of Sri Aravind Limbavali, the Legislative elective member and
referred to his discussion with him about the Nala and respective sewage works.
Work on building side walls to protect our boundary wall is expected to start
in January next year.
His website quotes, “N Ramesh,
Corporator Marathalli, is an able and visionary leader. He is a dedicated and
hardworking leader for the people, to the people. His passion for delivery has
made him a powerful administrator who achieves results with great ideas and
innovative approach”
You can see him in action and his
hands-on approach in clearing drains.

And we concluded with a "Mangala Geethe" by Anand
Kulkarni who with a wonderful and melodious voice sang a Purandara Dasa kirthana.
A
prayer where he seeks the
blessings of the almighty.
The benevolence of Lord of 'Lakshmi' –
Vishnu to make him wealthy and prosperous.
A long life from Vanipati, Bramha.
He prays to Lord Shiva who swallowed all
the poison that came out at the time of Samudramanthana, to stand by him and
help him during the difficult and testing time.
To Siddhivinayaka to keep all obstacles
away from the path of success to enable him to achieve what-ever he desires.
He invokes blessings of Dhanvantari, the God of medicine to keep him
hale and healthy.
Lastly, he requests Guru Madhvaraya and
Purandaradas to bestow their blessings on him till the end of his life and
treat him as their own.
This is one prayer by a
devotee to ALL IN ONE GOD, representing all the devotees who surrender themselves to the ALMIGHTY. And he hails all
the Gods to help him.
Finally a vote of thanks proposed by
Jahnavi, appreciating Corporator N Ramesh and his colleagues for taking their time off to attend to our function and to all the residents for thetr active
